Coast Guard Rules Out Alcohol As Cause Of NYC Ferry Crash: Report
The Coast Guard is investigating after 114 passengers had to be evacuated from the NYC Ferry.

WALL STREET, NY — The U.S. Coast Guard is investigating what caused an NYC Ferry to hit an underwater pylon and force 114 passengers to be evacuated on Monday night.
The ferry got stuck on the pylon about 90 feet from Pier 11 in lower Manhattan on Monday night. In total, 121 passengers and crew members, plus a dog, were evacuated from the boat with no injuries, according to authorities.
A Coast Guard spokesman told the New York Daily News that alcohol has been eliminated as a possible cause.

"When our investigation officers arrived on scene, they questioned all crew members individually to gather a narrative of the incident," Coast Guard spokesman and Petty Officer Steve Strohmaier said.
The captain won't run any ships while the investigations continues. The ferry is owned by Hornblower, the company contracted by the city to run its ferry service.

After the boat struck the pylon, two holes from the collision caused it to take on water.
