Dead Body Found by Salon a Floor Underneath It in Lower East Side

The blood poured down into the ceiling on the floor below into the salon, the salon owner said.

A decomposing dead body was discovered by police in an apartment on the Lower East Side Tuesday morning when the owner of the salon in the floor underneath it saw blood dripping down her ceiling, police said.

Caridad Alvarado, owner of the salon at 39 Essex Street near Grand Street, told police she noticed a foul smell a few days before and tried to cover it up with incense, but it kept smelling worse. When she saw blood pouring down the ceiling, she called police, and they discovered the body in a bed in Apartment 3, police said.

"The guy was there dead for about a week," Alvarado told NBCNews.
