Falling Ice In Downtown Manhattan Closes Multiple Streets
Ice falling from the roof of 104 Broad Street in lower Manhattan has caused several roads to close to car and pedestrian traffic.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — Multiple streets downtown have been closed to all traffic after a large chunk of ice fell from the roof of an office building.
A large slab of ice fell from the Verizon office at 104 Broad St. on Friday afternoon, crashing into a parked car on the street below, officials said. Nancy Silvestri, a spokeswoman for the city's Office of Emergency Management, told Patch that the ice fell on a car parked near the intersection of Broad and Water streets, Silvestri said. There were no injuries and the car wasn't heavily damaged.
City agencies decided to close the streets near the building while a contractor works to dislodge the ice, Silvestri told Patch. The following street closures are currently in effect to car and pedestrian traffic: Broad Street between Water and Pearl streets; and Water Street from Moore Street to Coenties Slip.
