Lower Manhattan Might Get A Protected Bike Lane Near The Brooklyn Bridge

A small protected bike lane might be coming to lower Manhattan to make it easier for cyclists leaving the Brooklyn Bridge.

TWO BRIDGES, NY — The city is considering a plan to update the connection between downtown Manhattan and the Brooklyn Bridge bike path by creating a protected bike lane on Park Row.

The NYC Department of Transportation is looking for a way to make riding easier and safer for cyclists biking from the Brooklyn Bridge and into lower Manhattan. Right now, the city is looking into creating a protected two-lane bike patch on Park Row near Centre Street, according to a department presentation. Representatives from the city's department presented the agency's plan on Monday at a community board planning meeting. The meeting was first reported on by Streetsblog NYC.
