No Arrests In Lower Manhattan Crash That Injured 6, NYPD Says

Police are not charging the driver in a collision last week that injured six people, authorities said.

LOWER MANHATTAN, NY — The livery cab driver involved in a collision last week that injured six people was not charged with any crimes or violations, police said.

The livery cab driver, who police did not identify, injured at least six people on Dec. 7 when he struck pedestrians, other cars and a cyclist near the intersection of Broadway and Liberty Street. No one was seriously injured in the collision, although police shut down much of the surrounding area to car traffic while investigators reviewed the scene. Police said that two pedestrians, two drivers and one cyclist were injured and transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.

Police initially suspected that the crash was caused by a "road rage incident," but later police sources told the New York Daily News that the investigators believed a driver had had a "medical episode" that caused the erratic driving.
