NYC Against Trump to Hold Meeting to Plan Responses to 'Oppression'

Hundreds of New Yorkers will meet Nov. 15 to plan ways to protect themselves in the face of potential violence during a Trump presidency.

FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — A new organization under the name #NYCAgainstTrump planned to gather at The Atrium on Wall Street on Nov. 15 to prepare to protect "communities of the oppressed" for when Donald Trump becomes president.

"Please join us in building and protecting the community from the right-wing rhetoric emboldened by Trump's electoral win!" the Facebook event said. "Solidarity with the working class! Solidarity with LGBTQIA! Solidarity with BLM! Solidarity with the Muslim community community! Solidarity with immigrants! Combat Patriarchy!"

#NYCAgainstTrump said it recently formed as a "collective of revolutionary communist working class youth" and concerns itself with "building a long term, mass based united front, not limited by any particular leftist ideology, with the purpose of protecting communities of the oppressed, and fighting against Trump and the burgeoning fascist movement in the U.S."

The meeting will serve to plan responses and tactics to combat methods of oppression by the Trump presidency, such as ways to respond to ICE, LGBTQIA violence, police brutality, Islamophobia, and other injustices.
