NYPD Detective Arrested With Drugs In Manhattan, Police Say

A 35-year-old NYPD detective was arrested in Manhattan with a needle and illegal drugs, according to police.

DOWNTOWN MANHATTAN, NY — An NYPD detective was arrested on Thursday with drugs and a needle, the NYPD said.

Timothy O'Brien, 35, was off-duty when he was arrested at 2:37 p.m., the NYPD said in a statement.

O'Brien was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, aggravated unlicensed operator and possession of a hypodermic instrument, or needle.

Police were not immediately able to give details on O'Brien's arrest. Patch was not immediately able to contact an attorney for O'Brien.
