Tribeca Investment Banker Tries to 'Un-Adopt' His 10-Year-Old Son: Report
He owes $20,000 in child support for the boy he adopted in 2011, according to his estranged wife's lawyer.

TRIBECA, NY — A Tribeca man has gone to court to un-adopt his 10-year-old son to avoid paying his wife child support, the New York Post reported. Robert Roever, who lives in a Tribeca loft and is president of Capitoline Advisors Manhattan, a Manhattan investment bank, owes his estranged wife, Alisa Cawley, around $20,000 in child support, the Post found.
Cawley told the Post about her 10-year-old son, "He texts all the time saying, 'I miss you Dad. I want to see you Dad.'" She said Roever blocked the texts.
Roever said the adoption that happened in 2011 was "fraud" because Cawley lied and said she didn't know her son's biological father.

"I feel bad," the 58-year-old admitted.
Roever filed to un-adopt his son in May, the Post reported.

Cawley's lawyer, Michael Stutman, said Roever can afford to pay the child support he owes because he put down that he makes $300,000 a year on his Tribeca loft rental application.
A Manhattan Supreme Court judge gave Roever until Nov. 22 to pay the full $20,000 he owes from the past 17 months of child support, or else he'll be thrown in jail.
"The only way this man is going to pay any money is when he's looking at the handcuffs," Stutman said.
