NEW YORK, NY — A woman saved her French Bulldog from a would-be thief in a Manhattan revolving door, becoming the latest owner to fend off robbers who target the expensive pups, according to police.

The wannabe dog-napper followed the woman and her Frenchie into an office building on Broadway and Exchange Alley June 21 about 2:245 p.m., according to police.

Video released by police shows the man trying to grab the dog in the revolving door, spurring a struggle that would send the woman's head crashing into the glass, according to police and the video.

The attempted robbery joins a recent trend of robbers targeting the "it" dog breed, which has become the most expensive in the United States, according to the New York Times.

French bulldogs — worth upwards of $30,000 — have been stolen in Miami, New York, Chicago, Houston and across California within the last year, the outlet notes. Even A-list Frenchies like Lady Gaga's two dogs haven't been safe from the sprees.
