VIDEO: NYPD Unit Trains Atop Brooklyn Bridge
Watch a video of one of the NYPD's most specialized units training on top of the Brooklyn Bridge.
FINANCIAL DISTRICT, NY — One of the NYPD's most elite units does its drills with one of the most dizzying views Manhattan has to offer — on the top of the 277-foot tall Brooklyn Bridge.
The NYPD's emergency service unit is a specially trained group that focuses on rescuing people in dangerous situations, which includes saving people on the tops of bridge and skyscrapers. Last year, the unit responded to remove a man who used suction cups to try and climb Trump Tower in an attempt to speak with then-candidate Donald Trump.
The Associated Press went along for a training session atop the Brooklyn Bridge, and learned a little bit more about how the unit operates.
