Woman Attacked While Stopped In TriBeCa Intersection, Police Say

The woman was stopped at a TriBeCa intersection when she was punched in the face while sitting in her car, police said.

TRIBECA, NY — A woman driving near Stuyvesant High School on Saturday night was attacked after a man opened her car door and demanded money, according to police.

The 46-year-old woman was stopped at the intersection of Warren Street and River Terrace on Saturday at about 8:50 p.m., police said. The man, who police have not identified, approached her car and opened its door, demanding money from the woman, according to authorities. When the woman refused, the man punched her in the face, police said. The woman's face was left bruised and swollen, but she refused medical attention. The man ran from the area empty-handed. Police are asking for the public's identifying the man, who they believe is in his 20s.
