Woman Steals $37K Watch After Her Date Passes Out, Police Say

Police are searching for a woman who stole a $37,000 watch from her date after he passed out, the NYPD said.

TRIBECA, NY — Police are looking for a woman who stole a $37,000 watch from her date after he passed out in his home, authorities said on Tuesday.

The woman, who police have not identified, is believed to have met the 46-year-old man in a Manhattan restaurant on Oct. 2, police said. The couple went back to the man's home in Tribeca, near River Terrace and Murray Street, just after midnight on Oct. 3, the NYPD said in a statement. Once inside, the man fell unconscious, at which point the woman snagged his $37,000 watch and left his home, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. Police are investigating whether the man was drugged.

Police are asking for help identifying the woman, who is believed to be in her 20s. (For more information on this and other neighborhood stories, subscribe to Patch to receive daily newsletters and breaking news alerts.)

Last week, authorities identified a similar Manhattan theft pattern from August, involving two women who stole pricey watches from their dates after the men fell unconscious in luxury hotels, the NYPD said at the time. In total, those women took three watches worth more than $80,000 total from their dates, police said. Police do not currently believe the Tribeca theft to be related to the August thefts.
