East Islip Middle School Goes Virtual Until December

On Wednesday, the district announced that there have been seven confirmed staff coronavirus cases.

EAST ISLIP, NY— A rash of staff coronavirus cases has spurred East Islip Middle School to move to full virtual instruction until December 1. A letter from the district was sent to parents on Wednesday. A cluster of staff COVID-19 positive cases went from three to seven confirmed cases over the last week.

The school had been using a hybrid instructional model with plans to have all students return in December but Superintendent John Dolan wrote to parents that in light of recent developments the schedule to return may be changed.

Anyone who has come in contact with the COVID-19-positive staff will be contacted by the Department of Health.
