Oakdale Salon Awarded "Best Hair Salon on Long Island"

OAKDALE, NY — Long Islanders have spoken. Tresses & Colours hair salon, located at 1227 Montauk Hwy in Oakdale, has been voted "Best Hair Salon on Long Island" for its third consecutive year, according to the Bethpage Federal Credit Union awards.

According to its description, the salon offers a variety of services including the Brazilian blowout, customized and corrective coloring, highlights and lowlights.

"At Tresses & Colours, they know that your hair is your own," the description states. "The stylists and colorists will work with you to find the right look for your hair while creating a comfortable atmosphere for your time at the salon."

Louise Polite, owner of Tresses & Colours, spoke to Patch about her business's recognition. Since its start in 1996, the salon has aimed to provide quality and personal hair services to its clients.

"We don't overcharge. We're very reasonably priced for a hair salon," said Polite. "A lot of hair salons charge ridiculous amounts of money and we charge an average price for the working people."

Most importantly, Polite said in more than 26 years of business, she has strived build relationships within the community.

"We treat our customers like they're part of the family. We go above and beyond for them," she said. "And they reward us with their loyalty."
