LI Has 2 Of Top 10 Most Expensive Zip Codes In U.S.: Report

See which LI towns are among the most expensive zip codes in the nation — and which area has seen the most growth this year.

LONG ISLAND, NY — Long Island sports some of the priciest zip codes in the United States, with two of the top 10 most expensive areas nationwide this year found in the Hamptons, according to a new report.

Realtyhop.com released its 2021 data, which said that on the whole, the most expensive zip codes in the United States became 7.1 percent more expensive than last year.

New York had 20 out of the 100 priciest zip codes, with an 11.79 percent price increase from last year, the report said.

On the East End, the zip code with the most growth from last year was Montauk's 11954, at 33.62 percent, Realtyhop said.

Two East End communities ranked among the Top 10 most expensive in the country, Realtyhop said: Sagaponack's 11962 was the third priciest zip code, with the median list price of homes for sale a whopping $5,995,900. Water Mill's 11976 zip code ranked fifth, with a $4,750,000 median list price of homes for sale, Realtyhop said.

Atherton, California came in first, with a median list price of $8,950,000.

Other East End spots also received high rankings in the nation's Top 50: Bridgehampton came in at #11 nationwide, with its $4 million median list price up 14.45 percent from last year's $3.495M, the report said.

Quogue was ranked #21, with a 24.18 percent median list price increase from $2,717,000 last year to $3,374,000 reported this year.

Wainscott was ranked #31, with a 28.68 percent increase: Last year's median list price was $2,327,500 compared to $2,995,000 this year.

The North Fork also showed growth: Shelter Island was ranked #35 nationwide, with a 2021 median list price of $2,925,000; last year's median list price was not indicated in the Realtyhop report.

Also, areas on the East End refleted three of the five highest price increases this year, the report said: Montauk's median list price of $2,599,000 was up 33.62 percent from 2020's $1,945,000 — the 11954 zip code reflected the highest price increase recorded in the nation, the Realtyhop report said.

Coming in second was Wainscott's 11975 zip code: The median list price of $2,995,000 was up 28.68 percent from 2020's $2,327,500.

Quogue, with a zip code of 11959, also was ranked fifth nationwide in growth: The 2021 median list price of $3,374,000 was up 24.18 percent from 2021's $2,717,000.
