Hamptons Celebrity Home Sales Are Record Breaking

EAST HAMPTON, NY — Variety has just compiled the top celebrity real estate deals in America during the first half of 2016, and the top two are Geffen’s East Hampton properties.

As Patch reported earlier, in 2014 the billionaire mogul bought the 5.5-acre West End Road Georgica Pond estate next to Steven Spielberg’s in East Hampton for a reported $50 million. Earlier this year he purchased another mansion within walking distance, but this one is an oceanfront 2-acre estate on Lily Pond Lane. That deal was a $70 million transaction, and Geffin then put his West End Road property on the market. Now Variety is reporting the West End Road estate has sold for $67.3 million, giving Geffen a $17 million profit in two years.

Another top celebrity sale in the USA, according to Variety is Richard Gere selling his Strongheart Manor estate in North Haven for a reported $33 million to the Today show’s Matt Lauer as Patch has previously reported. And even though the house was originally listed for $65 million, still the half-price sale made the list.

Three other famous Hamptonites made Variety’s report, but it wasn’t for their Hamptons homes. Jennifer Lopez, who owns a Water Mill estate, recently bought an 8-acre mansion in LA’s Stone Canyon for $28 million, and Sarah Jessica Parker and husband Matthew Broderick, who live in Amagansett and Manhattan, purchased two side-by-side West Village townhouses for $34.5 million that are considered fixer-uppers.
