60 Firefighters Battle Uniondale Home Blaze

The Red Cross helped relocate the four occupants of the home.

UNIONDALE, NY — Sixty firefighters battled a Uniondale house fire early Wednesday, Nassau police said.

Officers were called to Winthrop Street at 12:10 a.m., where heavy smoke and fire were coming from the second floor. All four occupants were out of the house before police arrived, according to the department.

Firefighters from the Elmont, Roosevelt, and North Bellmore fire departments extinguished the blaze. No injuries were reported, police said. Arson Bomb Squad Detectives and the Nassau County Fire Marshal responded. Red Cross assisted the four occupants with housing relocation.
