82-Year-Old LI Man Victim Of Online Elder Scam: Police
An arrest was made on Tuesday as the victim got suspicious and alerted police, authorities said.
EAST MEADOW, NY — An East Meadow man was the victim of an elder scam and one person was taken into custody, police said.
The 82-year-old victim received a message on his computer from a man claiming to be an employee at Microsoft, police said.
He told the victim that his bank accounts had been compromised. The victim was informed that he needed to withdraw all of his savings and await further instructions for delivery, authorities said.

After completing the transaction, the victim became suspicious and called police. An investigation led to the arrest of Zongjin Teng, 26, on Tuesday afternoon.
He is charged with third-degree grand larceny and third-degree attempted grand larceny, police said.

Teng was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.
