A Bagel & A Shmeer Set to Open Oct. 4

The highly anticipated opening of A Bagel & A Shmeer is just weeks away.

The new shop, located at 532 East Meadow Ave., will celebrate its grand opening Friday, Oct. 4, according to owner Kariene Aghabekian. Final inspections are scheduled for Sept. 30.

In addition to items you'd find in a standard bagel shop like lox and veggie salads, Aghabekian will also offer more than a dozen homemade "shmeers" including spicy chipotle and biscotti almond cream spreads, flavored butters like garlic and onion and cinnamon and a variety of hummus and yogurt spreads too.

Cold cuts, paninis, breakfast sandwiches, a portions control menu, along with a Kids Kombo menu are more of what will be offered. Aghabekian admits it's an ambitious menu but says it's important that all offerings cater to "all different palates."

Grand opening specials like a slice of Oreo cream cake will be offered, Aghabekian said.
