Accused Isles Glove Thief Pleads Not Guilty

“I got a glove from the team bench and came out with it. . . . I was gonna put the glove in a glass case as a tribute to one of the best games I’ve ever been to,” Matthew Kircheim, 35, told a Nassau County detective, according to Newsday.

Kircheim pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor theft in court Tuesday, according to the report.
Kircheim swiped a blue and orange hockey glove, valued at $135, at an April 25 game against the Washington Capitals at Nassau Coliseum, cops said. Kircheim took the glove from the Isles team bench toward the end of the game, police said.

Kircheim was charged with petit larceny and released on an appearance ticket.
