The funding supports Island Harvest’s year-round efforts, which provide millions of pounds of food to Nassau County residents, including many working families struggling to afford basic groceries. 
• 'ICE is here!': An activist network spreads on LI over immigration raid fears (newsday.com) — East Meadow is directly tied to Long Island’s immigration debate, with nearly 2,200 ICE detainees reportedly held at the Nassau County jail there since February. The story follows activist “Rapid Response Networks” in Port Washington and nearby communities who monitor ICE activity, hold vigils, and assist immigrant neighbors while officials debate the scope and impact of federal enforcement.
