College Students Learn Emergency Preparedness at NUMC

John Jay College students took a tour of the medical center.

Two John Jay College students recently visited the Nassau University Medical Center and learned about the importance of emergency preparedness.

The students met in the Emergency Operations Center and discussed topics of such as  fire response, fire alarm systems, training, security protocols, security safeguards, safety, hazardous materials,  generators, incident command operations, drills, events, decontamination, lock down, response and planning for Hurricane Sandy and all issues related to the surge of patients.

The students also took a tour of the Security Command Center, the boiler plant, generator rooms, ED, decontamination areas, and the Hazardous Material Room.
