The school sent off hundreds of students at its annual commencement ceremony on June 26.

EAST MEADOW, NY — The sun was shining on East Meadow High School seniors as they celebrated their graduation on the school’s football field on June 26.

The class of 2022 processed onto the field to roaring applause from their families and friends. Joined by the board of education and central and high school administration, the graduates took their seats to begin the commencement ceremony.

The event kicked off with a rendition of the national anthem by the senior chorale. They were joined by a group of students performing the song in American Sign Language. Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth A. Card Jr. and Board of Education President Alisa Baroukh addressed the graduates.

“Not every question will have an answer, but the key is to ask,” Chan said. “Question everything and don’t be afraid to be wrong.”

“We’re in control of how we choose to live our lives,” Wanatick said. “However, hopefully, we’ll still retain the values that we established here in East Meadow. No values may be more important than that of goodness and morality.”

Principal Richard Howard addressed his senior class before the awarding of diplomas.

“To the class of 2022, you started the journey, and you left a tremendous legacy,” said Howard. “I urge you to continue on this path and change the world. You are more than capable, and in fact, it is your responsibility.”

After the last student was called, the students celebrated with a cap toss and cheers. The crowd looked on proudly as the graduates processed off the field, ready to take on the next chapter of their lives.
