EAST MEADOW, NY — On Feb. 15, students in East Meadow High School’s Athletes Helping Athletes program recognized the American Legion Post 1082 with a special presentation.

The group presented Past Post Commander Pete Wenninger and First Vice Commander Leonard Volpe with a $500 check, which are proceeds from the school’s annual Field of Honor program.

“Thanks to people like yourself, we’re able to congregate, relax, have meetings and talk about what we’ve been through,” Wenninger said. “Your support is greatly appreciated and it means a lot to us.”
