Police Injured, 3 NYC Residents Arrested After Manhasset Traffic Stop: Police
Two people fled the scene while one became combative, police say.

MANHASSET, NY— Three people were arrested after criminal possession of a controlled substance on Wednesday, police said.
Nassau County police said while on routine patrol, officers observed a white 2007 Ford Expedition traveling westbound on Northern Boulevard failing to maintain their lane, at approximately 4:59 p.m.
Officers conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop and during the investigation, they observed a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine in plain site, police said.

According to NCPD, officers attempted to place the rear passenger, 24-year-old Diosmede Rodriguez Flores of Manhattan into custody when he became violent and combative, causing two officers to sustain injuries before placing him into custody.
24-year-old Carmen Soto of the Bronx and 34-year-old Nairim Perez-Gonzalez of the Bronx both exited the car and fled the scene, but were located nearby and placed under arrest without incident, police said.

The officers were transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment of their injuries, police said.
Diosmede Rodriguez Flores was charged with three counts of third-degree possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of second-degree assault, and resisting arrest, police said.
Carmen Soto was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and second-degree obstructing governmental administration, police said.
Nairim Perez-Gonzalez was charged with third-degree possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and multiple VTL violations, police said.
They will be arraigned on Thursday in Hempstead.
