East Meadow School District Students Crowned Spelling Bee Champs

A total of 42 middle school students participated in the school-level competition of the Scripps Spelling Bee at their respective buildings.

From East Meadow School District: Two students in the East Meadow School District were recently crowned school spelling bee champions: W.T. Clarke Middle School seventh-grader Nicholas Espinosa and Woodland Middle School sixth-grader Sarah Chacko.

A total of 42 middle school students participated in the school-level competition of the Scripps Spelling Bee at their respective buildings. Nicholas claimed the victory at Clarke with “voltmeter,” while Sarah secured first place at Woodland by correctly spelling “reminisce.”

Both winners will compete in the regional bee at Hofstra University in February. The district wishes them much success as they continue in the competition.

1) Sixth-grader Sarah Chacko became Woodland Middle School’s spelling bee champion with her accurate spelling of “reminisce.”

2) W.T. Clarke Middle School seventh-grader Nicholas Espinosa won his school’s spelling bee by correctly spelling “voltmeter.”
