Police ID Pedestrian Killed In Nassau Hit-And-Run: Police

The fatal crash took place Saturday, police say.

UNIONDALE, NY — Police have identified the pedestrian killed in a Nassau County hit-and-run Saturday as Cross Kim Young, 75, of Uniondale.

According to Nassau County police, the fatal crash took place at 3:19 p.m. in Uniondale.

Young was struck by a 2009 Jeep Wrangler while attempting to cross Maple Avenue at the intersection of Hempstead Boulevard, detectives said. He suffered severe trauma and was transported to a local area hospital where he was pronounced deceased, police said.

The operator of the Jeep Wrangler fled the scene, police said.

Subsequent to the investigation, a short time later, police located Cesar Manzo, 71, of Uniondale and placed him under arrest, police said.

Manzo was charged with leaving the scene of an incident/death, police said.

He was arraigned Sunday at First District Court in Hempstead.
