Hannon: East Meadow School Aid Increased in State Budget
The senator said that East Meadow School District will receive an increase of $1,863,786.

East Meadow School District will receive an increase of $1,863,786, or 5.15 percent in the just-passed State budget for 2013-14, according to Senator Kemp Hannon (R-Nassau).
“Education has always been, and continues to be, one of my highest priorities as a Legislator, and this year is no exception,” he said. “I was successful in securing $58 million in operating aid for Long Island schools above what the governor proposed in January.”
Hannon said he was also able to block the Governor’s proposal to reduce a category of school funding called “high tax aid,” which could have caused Long Island schools to lose more than $40 million, more than any other region in the state, and have kept Long Island’s share of education aid at almost 13 percent.
Long Island school districts will receive a collective $121 million increase in school aid, Hannon said.
