LI Man Charged For Slashing Person With Knife At Deli: Police

WESTBURY, NY — A man in Westbury was arrested Wednesday after slashing someone with a pocket knife at a deli, authorities said.

The incident happened shortly before 11 p.m. at Express Deli on Union Avenue.

Nassau County police say Jose Flores Lopez, 40, of Westbury, got into an altercation with a 48-year-old man. Lopez reportedly struck the victim with his hand and then, while holding a pocket knife, slashed his torso — causing a severe laceration.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and is in stable condition, according to authorities.

Lopez has been charged with second-degree assault.
