Man, 32, In Critical Condition, Struck By Intoxicated Box Truck Driver In Bethpage: PD
The crash occurred on Hicksville Road on Thursday morning.
BETHPAGE, NY — A 32-year-old man is in critical condition after being struck by a box truck Thursday morning– the driver of the box truck was intoxicated, police said.
Nassau County police said that at approximately 7:40 a.m., a 36-year-old Central Islip man was driving a 2024 Isuzu box truck southbound on Hicksville Road near the intersection of Brenner Avenue when he struck a 2023 Kia, driven by the 32-year-old man, that was exiting a parking lot onto Hicksville Road, police said.
According to police, the 32-year-old man who was struck suffered collapsed lungs and a broken pelvis. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment and is listed in critical condition, police said.

Officers placed the box truck driver, Wilber Arevalo Argueta, under arrest without incident after driving while intoxicated, police said.
There was a 38-year-old male passenger in the box truck, and no other injuries were reported, police said.

The investigation is ongoing, NCPD said.
Wilber Arevalo Argueta was charged with driving while intoxicated, police said. He was issued an appearance ticket and will be arraigned on Tuesday in Hempstead, police said.
