Nassau Police Recover Body From Storm Basin

OLD WESTBURY, NY — Nassau County police are investigating the death of a man who was found in a storm basin in Old Westbury Tuesday morning.

According to police, around 9 a.m., the Old Westbury Police Department found an empty car parked on the eastbound shoulder of the South Service Road of the Long Island Expressway, near a storm basin west of exit 39.

Old Westbury police asked the Nassau County police for help, and emergency service units and the Marine Bureau responded. A police diver went into the storm basin and found the body of a 73-year-old man.

Police have not released the identity of the man, nor have they said how he came to be in the basin. The investigation is ongoing.
