Plainview Woman Arrested In Connection With Fatal August DWAI: PD

EAST MEADOW, N.Y. — A Plainview woman was arraigned Friday in connection with an August car crash that killed Steven Diamond, 55, of Farmingdale, police said.

According to Nassau County police, Cassandra Panetta, 40, was arraigned Friday morning at Nassau County Court. Panetta faces charges of second-degree manslaughter, second-degree assault, third-degree assault, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and driving while ability impaired, police said.

The charges stem from an Aug. 10 crash in East Meadow, during which Panetta’s Nissan Altima collided with another Altima at an intersection, police said.

Diamond was a passenger in the second Altima, police said, and was pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital, police said.
