Westbury Welcomes Dads to Learn with Their Children
District Proudly Participates in Statewide Initiative
WESTBURY, NEW YORK (November 2023)—The Westbury School District excitedly participated in Dads Take Your Child to School Day. The district was one of the only Long Island districts to participate in this important statewide initiative, and all of its schools took part.
“This impactful event allows our scholars to share their academic pursuits with their father figures,” said Westbury School District Superintendent Dr. Tahira DuPree Chase. “This not only enhances the bonds between the father figures and our scholars but those between our District and families as well. It is a wonderful opportunity to engage with the community and provide a meaningful experience that our scholars are sure to remember.”
All fathers and significant male figures in scholars’ lives were encouraged to bring them to school and stay for engaging and meaningful activities. Scholars were joined by their father figures for classroom learning, art projects, music lessons and games. In addition, attendees had an opportunity to connect with faculty and staff and learn about local and national fatherhood programs and services.

“Having the support of a trusted adult figure who is actively engaging in your education truly makes a difference for these students,” said Dr. Chase. “They are granted a listening ear, trusted voice and unconditional care, which enhances their ability to thrive. In turn, father figures gain insight on their children’s education and learn how to best support them while having a great deal of fun.”
