Assemblyman Proposes Private School Background Check Law

The New York State Assembly may consider a new law that requires private schools, such as yeshivas, to fingerprint and conduct background checks employees.

The bill is sponsored by Brooklyn Assemblyman Dov Hikind. Last week, it earned the support of Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, who represents the Five Towns.

Vos Iz Neias reports:

“This bill is of paramount importance in today’s climate where everyone is a potential predator,” Weisenberg told VIN News.  “I fully support Dov because I believe in this and I am looking forward to the day that this bill is passed.”

The website reported days before that the bill has been stalled in the legislature.
