Here are the top stories today in Five Towns:
- The LI Herald previews East Rockaway's Homecoming festivities. East Rockaway will host its pep rally and parade on Oct. 15. The rally will be at 7 p.m. at Memorial Park and student athletes and coaches will also march from the high school to the park near Village Hall at 6:30 p.m. (LI Herald)
- Patch looks at the latest Long Island real estate report that shows the first signs of a cooling market for over a year. The median sales price in Nassau County is down from a high of $670,000 in August to $665,000. (Patch)
- A Suffolk County gym is opening a nearby location. Energy Fitness has personal trainer-oriented programs and is taking over the former Lucille Robert site at 298 Sunrise Hwy. The gym is slated to open in December. (Patch)
- Alex Costello explains how Nassau County may be getting a new area code in 2022. 516 has run out of numbers but what the new area code will be is still a mystery. (Patch)
