A nearby village is the latest Long Island municipality to opt out of legal cannabis sales. A Hempstead Town Councilwoman was honored for being a Long Island voting rights pioneer. A big lotto ticket was sold nearby. And sadly, one of the victims of the Elmont house fire has succumbed to their injuries.
