Boy Dies Playing Basketball At Queens School
The 16-year-old had been playing basketball at John Bowne High School in Flushing.

FLUSHING, QUEENS – A 16-year-old boy died while playing basketball at a Queens school Wednesday, police and officials said.
Lenny Pierre, who lived on 109th Road, was found unconscious inside John Bowne High School, on Main Street in Flushing, at 12:03 p.m., police said. He was rushed to hospital where he was prounounced dead.
The boy had collapsed while playing basketball, according to Mayor Bill de Blasio's office.

De Blasio released a statement after Lenny's death. “I am heartbroken to hear of Lenny Pierre’s passing. As a parent, and as a father of student athletes, I can only imagine the pain and sorrow being felt by Lenny’s family, loved ones and classmates," he said.
The cause of death has not yet been determined, police said.
