FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — For New Yorkers, brunch is more than a meal; for some residents, it has become something of a religion. In Forest Hills, brunch spots are plentiful.
Here are some of the places in Forest Hills where locals can grab a bite between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in their neighborhood:
Red Pipe Cafe

Red Pipe Cafe is a premier destination for vegan brunch eats, according to diner reviews on Yelp.com, from “the best ice caramel macchiato” one user has ever tasted to an egg-and-cheese sandwich with avocado. For single diners, Red Pipe Cafe offers free Wi-Fi access with special two-hour passwords. Described as an art cafe, Red Pipe is also home to a variety of weekly events dedicated to the arts, from open mic sessions to gallery exhibitions, and is open at 8 a.m. every day.
Jack & Nellie’s
Address: 108-25 Ascan Ave.
“The brunch on Sundays hits the spot,” lauds one Yelp user, with another user complimenting the Jack & Nellie’s as a “cute, little place with a hipster feel” and “great tunes playing.” Recommendations include the “eggcellent” slab bacon benedict and French toast with bacon. Forest Hills Station House

Forest Hills Station House opens for brunch at noon on Saturdays and Sundays. Per its Facebook page, the Station House aims to “focus on what’s current and fun in the modern restaurant industry.” How does it do it? With its well-trained, knowledgeable staff, who is eager to guide diners toward a great bourbon, rye, craft beer or cocktail to pair with the chef’s playful take on traditional pub fare, the page says. One Yelp reviewer recommends the belly egg-and-cheese, calling it a “no-brainer.”
Dirty Pierre’s
Address: 13 Station Sq.
Dirty Pierre’s doesn’t take reservations, but diners can walk in on a Saturday or Sunday around noon for a sit-down brunch with friends, family or for a table of one. Brunch is available for a fixed price of upward of $17,95, according to the restaurant website, which includes a choice of drink and an extensive selection of traditional brunch time fare, with some eats available for an extra couple of bucks.
One Yelper described the food as “absolutely incredible.” Another described the place itself as “an eccentric local bar with friendly folks.”
Rove

According to Yelp reviews, Austin Street’s Rove is known for its weekend brunch with mimosas. Brunch is served Saturday and Sunday at 11 a.m. Recommendations include Rove’s chicken and waffles and the eggs benedict. Rove is further described as a cozy restaurant, with attentive and friendly staff, serving reasonably priced brunch.
