Ceremony Honors Forest Hills First Responder Killed On 9/11
Richard Pearlman, 18, was the the youngest first responder who died on 9/11.
FOREST HILLS, QUEENS - The youngest first responder killed on 9/11 was honored Monday at the Forest Hills Volunteer Ambulance Corps (FHVAC), according to the Queens Chronicle.
Richard Pearlman, 18, died after rushing to the World Trade Center to help out, reports at the time said. He had gone to 1 Police Plaza to run an errand for the law firm where he worked when the terrorists struck. Pearlman raced to the scene to treat the wounded as a member of FHVAC.
His family members received a bouquet during Monday's ceremony at FHVAC, located at 92-29 Metropolitan Ave., the Queens Chronicle reported.

“(Pearlman) wanted to help people out,” FHVAC Vice President Daniel Exler was quoted as saying. “That’s what he was about. That’s why he went down to the World Trade Center.”

Earlier this year, FHVAC created an award for outstanding service named after Pearlman, who lived in Howard Beach, the Queens Chronicle said.
