City To Spray For Mosquitoes In Forest Hills

The Department of Health is coming after the mosquitoes buzzing around Central Queens.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The Department of Health is coming after the mosquitoes buzzing around Forest Hills and surrounding Queens neighborhoods.

The agency is sending trucks to spray mosquito-killing pesticides through Central Queens on Tuesday, according to a news release.

Parts of Forest Hills, Forest Hills Gardens, Forest Park, Glendale, Kew Gardens, Maspeth, Middle Village, Rego Park, Richmond Hill and Woodhaven will get sprayed between 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, weather permitting.

The pesticides, DeltaGard and Anvil, pose a low risk to people and pets, but some may experience eye or throat irritation or rashes. Those with respiratory conditions may also be affected.

During the spraying, people should stay indoors and use soap and water to wash any clothing and skin that may have been exposed to the pesticides, according to the Department of Health.
