A mobile coronavirus testing center is hitting the streets of Kew Gardens on Thursday.
KEW GARDENS, QUEENS — A mobile coronavirus testing center is hitting the streets of Kew Gardens on Thursday, part of a city initiative to bring free testing to more New York City neighborhoods.
The city will introduce a fleet of 10 testing trucks by July, starting this week with the one in Kew Gardens and another in Soundview in The Bronx, according to the mayor's office.
Each testing truck will be equipped to conduct 80 coronavirus tests a day. Testing will be done on a walk-in basis.

"You can literally stay in your neighborhood, and the testing trucks come to you," Mayor Bill de Blasio said during a news briefing Friday.
As New York City embarks on the path to reopening, city officials are aiming to bring coronavirus testing capacity up to 50,000 tests a day.
