KEW GARDENS, QUEENS — An enforcement blitz over the weekend has led to a slew of tickets and fines for the troubled Umbrella Hotel, where a shooting over the summer left the front door riddled with bullet holes and a man was charged with sex trafficking a minor.

The hotel was slapped with over a dozen violations — including two criminal summonses — after a joint investigation by the NYPD, Department of Buildings, Department of Environmental Protection, FDNY and New York City Sheriff's Office, according to the office of state Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal.

The Fire Department cited the hotel for several fire safety issues, including defective fire alarm systems and pumps.

Hotel representatives did not respond to an email requesting comment.

"We need continued cooperation from the City to ensure that violent crimes and public health violations come to an end at this location," Rosenthal said in a statement. "We cannot accept anything less."

For months, the hotel has been the subject of complaints by neighbors and elected officials who argued the city should shut it down.

The hotel first gained notoriety this summer, after it was the site of two shootings and several assaults in a little more than a month's time. One shooting, on Aug. 9, left bullet holes in the hotel's glass revolving front door.

Police officers were stationed there almost around-the-clock in an effort to deter crime, but incidents continued.

In October, a man was arrested on charges of sex trafficking a 16-year-old girl at the hotel.
