Festival Of Cinema Comes To Forest Hills With 125 Films

The Festival of Cinema NYC kicks off in Forest Hills next week with screenings of 125 films from 40 countries, director Q&As and contests.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — The 10-day Festival of Cinema NYC kicks off in Forest Hills next week with screenings of 125 films from 40 countries.

The third annual Festival of Cinema begins Aug. 2 with the East Coast premiere of Camilo Vila's "5th of July" and includes showings of narrative features, documentaries and short films as well as Q&As with film directors and an indie film contest.

The East Coast premiere of director Santiago Rizzo's "Quest" closes the festival on Aug. 10.

Screenings take place at the Regal UA Midway in Forest Hills.

Among the countries represented in this year's festival are the United States, Australia, Canada, France, Italy, South Africa and Turkey, according to organizers.

While tickets to daily screenings cost $16, the Queens Public Library will host five days of free screenings, presentations and workshops at its Forest Hills Branch on 71st Avenue.
