Forest Hills Food Distributor Awarded NYS Grant For Long Island Hub

Natural Foods Inc., based at 64-31 108th Street, netted $975,000 to expand its services in Long Island.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS – A Forest Hills-based food distributor was awarded nearly $1 million to expand its services to Long Island through a state grant.

Natural Foods Inc., based at 64-31 108th Street, netted $975,000 through New York’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative to buy a building in Long Island and invest in machinery and equipment.

"I'm proud to announce this next round of awards that were recommended by stakeholders who live and work in the regions they represent,” Governor Kathy Hochul said on Wednesday. “This investment will help bring more opportunity for New Yorkers, spur economic development, and fuel the future success of communities across our state."

The Natural Foods project aims to expand the company’s dairy product lines and hire new employees. Besides dairy, the company also focuses on egg and cheese distribution.

The state initiative granted $68 million in core capital grant and tax-credit funding to 74 projects in its 12th round.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis until funds are exhausted. Applicants can apply through the Consolidated Funding Application.
