Forest Hills Hospital Gets Top Mark In NYC Hospital Safety Ratings

Long Island Jewish Forest Hills achieved the highest rank for the first time in the Leapfrog Group's 2023 hospital safety grades.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — It's grading season for hospitals across the city, and Forest Hills was at the top of the class.

Long Island Jewish Forest Hills achieved the highest rank for the first time in the Leapfrog Group's 2023 hospital safety grades released Wednesday.

The hospital, located at 102-01 66th Rd., was one of eight Northwell Health hospitals to receive an 'A' rating for its patient safety.

“From environmental services to patient transporters to nurses and physicians, every member of our team contributes to the quality and safety of our patient care,” said Lorraine Chambers Lewis, executive director of LIJ Forest Hills. “This rating by Leapfrog recognizes our hospital’s teamwork in providing our patients and their families with the highest possible level of care.”

Citywide, out of 44 hospitals in the city, 10 received "A" or "B" safety grades from the independent nonprofit watchdog. Besides LIJ Forest Hills, NYU Langone Hospital in Brooklyn and NYU Langone Hospitals on First Avenue received the top achievement.

The majority — 26 — received "C" grades, according to the list. Eight got a "D," the group found.
