Forest Hills Hospital Prepare Kosher Meals For Jewish Nonprofit Pantry

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Staff at the Long Island Jewish Forest Hills hospital helped prepare and serve hundreds of kosher meals for a nonprofit that helps feed the Jewish community in Queens.

Hospital staff prepared more than 500 meals on Thursday at the Masbia Of Queens soup kitchen and pantry located at 105-47 64th Road.

“LIJ Forest Hills cannot be just a building where health care is delivered,” said Lorraine Chambers Lewis, executive director of the hospital. “We have to get out there and meet people where they are to better understand their needs.”

The team prepared the meals, which are provided daily throughout the pantry’s three locations Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Masbia locations in Queens and Brooklyn deliver free groceries to more than 2,000 weekly.

Masbia of Queens is open for sit-down dinner service from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday through Thursday.
