Forest Hills Indie Film Festival Kicks Off Ticket Sales

Dubbed NYC's "fastest growing truly independent film festival," the festival boasts over 120 films shown during nine days in August.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — If you've been wanting to see an independent film — or 120 of them — now's your chance.

Festival of Cinema NYC, self-described as the city's fastest growing truly independent film festival, announced the start of ticket sales Wednesday to its nine-day festival starting Aug. 5.

The 6th annual event, which will be hosted at the Regal UA Midway and Queens Library in Forest Hills, features over 120 independent films shown in 38 event blocks, where viewers get a choice of a few movies, organizers said.

Tickets to the event blocks are $17 per-person while other events — like opening and closing night, both of which include a drink ticket — cost $30 per-person, according to the festival website.

There are also several free film showings at the Forest Hills library, the schedule shows.

All told, 90 filmmakers are expected to attend the festival, organizers said, and plan to host question and answer sessions after most screenings.

During the pandemic, the festival moved to a drive-in model, but returned to an in-person event last year.
