Forest Hills Major Crime Stats Jump 30 Percent In June: Data

Citywide, major crimes declined by an average of four percent in June when compared to last year. Meanwhile, Forest Hills jumped 30 percent.

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — Reported robberies are on the decline in Forest Hills at a rate outpacing the city at large in June, but many other major crimes were on an upward trend.

Citywide, major crimes declined by an average of four percent in June when compared to last year. But in Forest Hills, that number was up about 30 percent over the same time period.

To some avail, robberies in Forest Hills declined 66.7 percent.

The biggest crime jumps in the NYPD's 112th Precinct, which encompasses Forest Hills and Rego Park, were found in grand larceny (42.9 percent), burglary, and grand larceny of a vehicle (both 33.3).

Transit crimes — not included in the major crime statistics — were also up slightly. Transit crimes were up from two in June 2022 to four this year, with a year-to-date jump from 15 to 16.

Still, other, smaller crimes reflected an overall decline, like a 10 percent drop in petty theft and a 12.5 percent drop in misdemeanor assault.
