Forest Hills Rabbi Receives Proclamation In Honor Of Rebbe's Birthday

FOREST HILLS, QUEENS — A Forest Hills rabbi accepted a proclamation by Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, honoring Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson’s 121st birthday by proclaiming April 2 as "Education & Sharing Day.”

Rabbi Mendy Hecht of Chabad of Forest Hills North accepted the proclamation on Monday on behalf of Chabad Lubavitch of Queens NY.

The proclamation honors the rabbi who many know as Rebbe, who died in 1994 after building the Lubavitcher movement and became one of the most influential Jewish figures of the last century.

“It’s a gift to the Rebbi,” Rabbi Mendy told Patch, “to spread that word to the entire world.”

“He saw in every person an opportunity for leadership. He was that light from all walks of life,” Rabbi Mendy added.

The White House released a proclamation on Saturday designating April 2, 2023, as “Education and Sharing Day, U.S.A."
