Forest Hills Student Receives Siemens Scholarship

Local student who attends Mary Louis Academy will receive $4,000 through scholarship.

A Forest Hills student is one of 75 students to be named winner of this year’s Siemens Merit Scholarship.

Anne Codd, who lives in Forest Hills and attends Jamaica’s Mary Louis Academy, will receive $4,000 for tuition over the course of her years in college, a spokesman for the Siemens Merit Scholarship said.

Codd will receive an installment of $1,000 for each academic year in college.

A total 75 scholarships were handed out to students across 21 states. Hallie Voulgaris, a Dobbs Ferry student who attends The Masters School, was the only other local recipient of the scholarship.

“These scholarships recognize children of Siemens employees for their academic excellence and should be celebrated by their communities,” said Jeniffer Harper-Taylor, president of the Siemens foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to advancements in science, math, engineering and technology

Students who obtain the scholarship are chosen based on PSAT scores as well as academic record, activities, contribution to their community, school recommendation and an essay about personal characteristics, plans and goals.

The scholarship is intended to inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers and thinkers.
